To be admitted to the college, each applicant should apply for an appropriate programme on the prescribed application form. The application form should be submitted to the office of the College by 30th September of the year preceding that of intended entry. Application form can be obtained from the college office or downloading from the college website: www.siaatoutai.to
Application Fee
A non-refundable fee of $20.00 is required for each application. Incomplete applications will not be considered, and late application will be considered for the next academic year.
Admission with Standing
Admission with standing permits applicants who are not eligible to be admitted under the eligibility provisions of a programme to enroll in that programme under certain circumstances. Factors taken into consideration in the decision include: age, academic background, nature of employment, and likelihood of success. Applicants may be required to pass a test as a prerequisite for admission with standing.
Applications on Grounds of Work Experience
This special consideration is for those who do not have the required qualification to a certain programme, but have relevant working experience.
Entrance Requirements
Certificate in Theology and Pastoral Ministry
This programme of study is opening to anyone who wishes to undertake theological training in the college, regardless his or her academic achievements. However, there are certain conditions considered by the college relating to the nature and personality of each candidate. Some of those conditions relate to age, police record, health condition, and recommendations from respective referees. These conditions are applicable to all programs of study undertaken within the college.
Certificate in Theology and Pastoral Ministry with Honours
Entry to this programme of study shall be determined at the end of the first semester of the second year of study in the Certificate in Theology and Pastoral Ministry programme. Students who have passed all courses in Years 1 & 2 and achieved an overall grade point average of 3.0 (70%, B) shall qualify for entrance. Entrance shall only be open to students already enrolled.
Diploma in Theology
All candidates must prove themselves competent in the use of English, and satisfy one of the following conditions:
- Have passed the Pacific Senior Secondary Certificate (Form 6), or equivalent overseas qualification. Or
- Have passed the Sia'atoutai Certificate in Theology and Pastoral Ministry with Honours or equivalent award from an institution accredited by SPATS or equivalent body, with an overall grade point average of 3.0 (70%, B). Or
- Have qualifications judged by the Board of Studies to be equivalent to one of the above.
Bachelor of Divinity
All candidates must prove themselves competent in the use of English, and satisfy one of the following conditions:
- Hold a Degree or Diploma from a recognized tertiary institution. Or
-
Have passed the Sia’atoutai Diploma in Theology (with all courses at 55% or more) or equivalent award from an institution accredited by SPATS or equivalent body. Or
- Have qualifications judged by the Board of Studies to be equivalent to one of the above.
Bachelor of Divinity with Honours

Academic Performance
Unsatisfactory performance may result in either termination of studies or permission to enroll in the Tongan programme.
Suspension of Studies
Students may apply for a suspension of their studies if they are unable, for any reason, to continue for any period of time exceeding three weeks. Application must be addressed to the Academic Dean, providing reasons, the duration of suspension sought, and any supporting documents. Maximum duration of suspension is one year.
Course Fees
All students are required to pay course fees at the beginning of each semester. Failure to pay fees will result in students being barred from attending classes. Students may not graduate until all course fees are paid in full. Tuition fees for the academic year 2006 and onward are as follow:
